Biospheres - modern art installation

Postby ScarletBea » Fri Jan 01, 2010 8:09 pm

In Copenhagen I saw the most amazing exhibition there in the National Gallery.
Usually I'm in 2 minds about modern art, some can be quite crap, but I loved this one.

It's called Biospheres, from the argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno, and these are the photos I found online (I still haven't got mine uploaded).
Huge plastic bubbles with things growing inside, at several stages, until it got a whole world...

Wow, Bea, that's amazing! I love it at first sight! Thanks for letting us know about this.

:scratchchin:

Well, of course, it fits in nicely with the recent visiting-politicians circus at Copenhagen. (Maybe those supposed luminaries should go on tour more often, so more people could appreciate what folly is done in the name of so-called governance.) Who needs a healthy climate anyway? These politicians claim to love their children and care about future generations, but in reality they only care about amassing money - not so much for themselves, though they surely want a nice cut, but for the corporations which employ them all.

The dream: Them -> :violent1: <- Us

The reality: Us -> :violent1: <- Them

=^..^=

You're welcome, and the impact is even bigger live. Imagine you're entering a really classical building and expecting the old masters... after the big atrium, you go down some steps and enter that huge area with the biospheres thing, I think that honestly my jaw dropped, hehe

Yes, this was part of a series of exhibitions and initiatives caused by the climate conference.

Thanks for posting, Bea. They look fantastic in the photos. I can imagine, quite a sight to behold in real life. What a brilliant idea.
